I started in 2005 building ActionScript — games, e-learning systems, interactive desktop and web applications, streamed through Flash Media Server. Flash was, for a decade, the actual motion platform of the web: if something moved convincingly on a screen, there was a good chance it was built the way I was building things. That decade taught me the fundamentals that never go out of date — timing, interpolation, the difference between an animation that reads as intentional and one that reads as decoration.

When the web moved on, I moved with it. From 2011 I led a team through the shift from ActionScript into AngularJS and JavaScript, and by 2015 I was deep in Angular 2+, TypeScript, RxJS and NgRx — architecting single-page applications for European clients, leading a frontend team of up to 18 on a car-leasing platform, and building an SEO-optimised, server-rendered e-commerce site for car parts across Europe. That decade was about architecture: state management, hybrid mobile delivery with Cordova and Ionic, and the discipline of shipping something a distributed team can maintain for years.

Now I work across React and Next.js alongside continued Angular work — this site is built in the stack it describes. Twenty-one years in, the constant hasn't been any one framework. It's been making interfaces move in a way that feels deliberate, and leading the people who build them.
