The Flash Decade — Games, E-Learning & Interactive Apps
A decade of ActionScript work aggregated into one era: web-based Flash games, e-learning systems, and desktop/web interactive applications, with streaming delivery via Flash Media Server. No individual titles survive as live links — Flash reached end-of-life in 2020 — so this is presented as an era, not a broken portfolio.
The problem
Before HTML5 and CSS animation were viable, motion on the web ran through Flash. Clients across this decade needed games, e-learning courseware, and interactive desktop and web applications — and Flash, with ActionScript and Flash Media Server for streaming, was the platform that could actually deliver it.
The approach
Ten years across ActionScript 1.0 through 3.0, moving from individual development work into team leadership by the decade's end. The throughline into everything that came after: timing, interpolation, and state — the same problems that later showed up in Angular's change detection and, now, in React's render cycle, just with different syntax around them.
Outcome
A decade of shipped work at Plaveb Solutions and Gateway Technolabs. Flash reached end-of-life in 2020, so no individual titles survive as live links — presented here as an era, not a broken portfolio.
