Official hybrid mobile app for the US Brewers Association — brewery and beer discovery with a digital Brewers Passport across 300+ breweries.
The problem
The US Brewers Association wanted an official mobile app covering the 300+ breweries in its network — discovery of beers and breweries, plus a gamified "Brewers Passport" for visitors checking breweries off as they went. It had to work as a real hybrid mobile app, not a wrapped website.
The approach
Built with AngularJS and Cordova as part of a 4-person team, this was earlier in the Angular-era work here, closer to the AngularJS/hybrid-mobile end of that decade — the passport mechanic in particular meant getting device-level state (what has this user checked in at) right inside a Cordova shell rather than relying purely on a backend.
Outcome
Shipped as the official Brewers Association app, live on Google Play, covering brewery/beer discovery and the Brewers Passport across the association's 300+-brewery network.
